The controversy is the difference between a natural born U.S. citizen v. a U.S. citizen. To become The President of the United States; one must be a Natural Born U.S. Citizen.
Requirements for a Natural Born U.S. Citizen
1) Born on U.S. soil
2) *Both* parents must be U.S. Citizens
Accordingly, Mr. Obama’s father was not a U.S. Citizen but was subject to British rule. Therefore both of Obama Jr.’s parents were *not* U.S. citizens and Jr. is *not* a *Natural Born* Citizen.
There is no question whatsoever that B.H. Obama is a U.S. citizen because one of his parents—his mother—was a U.S. Citizen.

Who other than Vattel said this? It's not written in the Constitution or any law. Natural Born refers to the laws in the Colonies before the Revolution in which anyone born in a colony was a natural born subject. That is what Natural Born means. It means "born in the country."
That that is why such prominent conservative Senators who are also lawyers as Orren Hatch and Lindsay Graham say that a Natural Born Citizen is simply one who was born in the USA:
Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC), said:
“Every child born in the United States is a natural-born United States citizen except for the children of diplomats.” (December 11, 2008 letter to constituent)
Senator Orrin G. Hatch (R-UT), said:
“What is a natural born citizen? Clearly, someone born within the United States or one of its territories is a natural born citizen.” (Senate Judiciary Committee hearing hearing on OCTOBER 5, 2004)

Obama Natural Born II Update
Technology really has become one with our daily lives, and I am fairly confident when I say that we have passed the point of no return in our relationship with technology.
I don't mean this in a bad way, of course! Ethical concerns aside... I just hope that as technology further advances, the possibility of copying our memories onto a digital medium becomes a true reality. It's a fantasy that I dream about all the time.
